My 4 Favorite Enneagram Books: How to Find the Perfect One for You!

A blue background featuring the title and four photos: one of each of the Enneagram books that I share in the post!

Several years ago, I was introduced to the Enneagram, and I was immediately drawn to it! If you’ve never heard of the Enneagram, it’s an incredibly accurate personality typing system. I’ve always been interested in personality types, and when I discovered this one, it quickly became my favorite! Since then, I’ve learned so much, and become a wholehearted “Enneagram Nerd.” ;) Whether you’re brand new to the Enneagram, or you want to learn more (because there is always more to learn!), this post will help you find the perfect book for you!

The Enneagram Made Easy

By Renee Baron + Elizabeth Wagele

This is the book that introduced me to the Enneagram! The Enneagram Made Easy is perfect for anyone who is interested in learning the basics of this personality system. Authors Renee Baron and Elizabeth Wagele truly do make the Enneagram so easy to understand, and I laughed out loud reading this book! I love that it has questions at the beginning of each chapter to help you determine which of the nine types you are! This is the book I recommend if you’re just starting to learn about the Enneagram.

Best for: Anyone who wants a simple and fun guide to the Enneagram, whether you’re brand new to it or just want something lighthearted and insightful!

The Wisdom of The Enneagram

By Don Richard Riso + Russ Hudson

I recently got The Wisdom of The Enneagram, and it’s the ultimate Enneagram guide! Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson include full descriptions of all nine types, along with stories from people who identify as each number, and thoughtful advice for growth. This book also includes a “Type Attitude Sorter” at the beginning of each chapter to help you determine which number you relate to most. One of my favorite parts of this book is that it goes into detail about all the different wings, instinctual variants, and levels of health for each type (and if you don’t know what any of those things are, that’s okay! They explain everything really well!)

Best for: Anyone who wants to dive deep into each Enneagram type, and the many different aspects of the personality system with thoughtful detail!

The Road Back to You

By Ian Morgan Cron + Suzanne Stabile

The Road Back to You is one of the most popular books about the Enneagram, and for good reason! Authors Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile share personal stories, thoughtful insights, and relatable quotes for each type. Every chapter also includes paths to transformation, which are simply practical steps each type can take towards growth. I love that they include a “What it’s like to be my type” section for each number. The Road Back to You is a must-have book for anyone who is interested in the Enneagram!

Best for: Anyone who wants to learn more about the Enneagram and read funny and insightful personal stories!

The Honest Enneagram

By Sarajane Case

In The Honest Enneagram, author Sarajane Case invites each type to grow, laugh, and learn with compassion and honesty! This book combines insightful knowledge, funny (and very relatable) bingo cards for each type, and practical advice! I love the “by Enneagram type” lists at the beginning of each chapter. My favorites are Bad Flirting Techniques by Enneagram Type and Each Enneagram Type at an Amusement Park! It’s beautifully written and illustrated and would be perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about the Enneagram.

Best for: Anyone who wants a practical and honest guide to growth for each Enneagram type!
